By CENTCOM Public Affairs Exercise Eagle Resolve is an annual, multi-national naval, land and air exercise designed to enhance regional cooperative defense efforts of the Gulf Cooperation Council and U.S. Central Command. Sponsored by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, this year’s exercise will be hosted in and around Doha, Qatar, from April 21-May 6, 2013. The exercise will be conducted in three separate segments: a multilateral command post exercise, a field training exercise, and a senior leader seminar. Events during the exercise will support focus areas of integrated air and missile defense; consequence management; critical infrastructure protection; counter-terrorism, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear-passive defense; and interdiction and border security, within the framework of the cooperative defense program. Through scenarios such as hostage situations, naval attacks/provocations, theater ballistic missile attacks, and toxic chemical spills, the exercise is designed to increase tactical proficiency, expand levels of cooperation, enhance mutual maritime capabilities, as well as promote interoperability and long-term regional stability. Ultimately, the exercise will assist in building cooperative defense and regional capacity to address emerging and evolving threats. Nearly 3,000 military forces from about 14 different countries are anticipated to participate in the exercise. Invited countries include Bahrain, Egypt, France, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and the United States. Exercise Eagle Resolve was first held in 1999; Eagle Resolve 13 will mark the eleventh iteration of the exercise.
