Gen. Allen spends holiday with ISAF troops in Herat and Balkh provinces

KABUL, Afghanistan (December 26, 2011) —While traveling on a holiday might not be most people’s ideal way to spend Christmas, International Security Assistance Force Commander Gen. John R. USCENTCOM directs investigation into Afghan-Pakistan border incident

MacDill AFB, Fla. (November 28, 2011) — The commander of U.S. Central Command, Gen. James N. Mattis, has directed an investigation into the incident near the Salala Checkpoint, Khas Kunar Province, Afghanistan, in the vicinity of the Pakistan border on Nov. 25, which inflicted casualties on Pakistan military personnel.

TAMPA, Fla. (November 15, 2011) — Gen. James Mattis, Commander of U.S. Central Command, departed the United Arab Emirates yesterday. While there, Gen. Mattis met with Gen. Muhammad Bin Zayid Al-Nuhayyan, the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince. Gen. Mattis said he appreciated the country’s recent support of the international effort in Libya and thanked him for the U.A.E.’s leadership.

U.S. General James Mattis consults Pakistan Leaders

TAMPA, Fla. (November 13, 2011) – U.S. Central Command Commander Gen. James Mattis departed Pakistan yesterday after visiting and consulting with senior Pakistani military and security officials. Gen. Mattis discussed regional military cooperation and highlighted the many sacrifices of the Pakistani military as a result of their ongoing operations in the tribal areas.

DFIP Detainee passes away

MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla (October 24, 2011) — A detainee at the Detention Facility in Parwan died yesterday from an inoperable and terminal brain tumor. At the time of his death, the detainee was receiving medical care at Craig Combat Surgical Hospital, a nearby U.S. medical facility.

CENTCOM commander visits Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (September 25, 2011) — Gen. James Mattis, the commander of U.S. Central Command, visited Islamabad to meet with Gen. Ashfaq Kayani, the Chief of the Pakistan Army, and Gen. Khalid Wynne, the Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Armed Forces. Gen. Mattis meets and talks routinely with both generals to discuss U.S.-Pakistan military activities, the coalition campaign in Afghanistan and broader regional issues. The generals had candid discussions about the current challenges in the U.S.-Pakistan relationship. However, Gen. Mattis also emphasized the vital role the Pakistan military plays in international security efforts to protect the Pakistani and Afghan people and the need for persistent engagement among the militaries of the U.S., Pakistan and other states in the region.
