CENTCOM investigation of Wanat combat action completed; report forwarded to Army

MACDILL AFB, Fla. – The investigation into the combat action that occurred at Wanat, Afghanistan on 13 July 2008, ordered by Gen. David Petraeus, Commander, U.S. Central Command, and led by Lt. General R. F. Natonski, has been completed. The report has been thoroughly reviewed and endorsed by Gen. Petraeus and forwarded to the Department of the Army as a matter under its cognizance.

CENTCOM statement on rifle scopes

MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. – Gen. David Petraeus, U.S. Central Command commander, stated today that he was very concerned to learn that rifle scopes being used by some troopers deployed within the CENTCOM area have coded numbers referencing Bible verses on them, in addition to the normal markings on the scopes.
