Air Crash Recovery
Navy divers salvage a crashed Ethiopian airliner.
Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew Trautman, Navy diver, and Petty Officer 2nd Class Todd Walsh, Navy diver, are pulled out of the Mediterranean Sea after a dive off the coast of Lebanon. Both divers are attached to Mobile Diving Salvage Unit 2, currently embarked aboard the rescue and salvage ship USNS Grapple for a scheduled deployment. Grapple is on scene assisting the Lebanese Armed Forces-led recovery operations following the crash of Ethiopian Airways flight 409, Jan. 25.

Afghan Firefight
Pvt. John Stafinski fires his M249 SAW at insurgents in Kunar province.
Stafinski, a native of Seville, Ohio, and his unit engaged in a three-hour gun battle with insurgent fighters in Kunar's Waterpur Valley, Nov. 3. Stafinski is an infantryman with Company C, 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, based out of Fort Carson, Colo.
