Bright Star 2023 highlights the long-standing Egyptian-American ties

TAMPA, Fla. - Exercise Bright Star 2023 began Aug. 31, 2023, at the Mohamed Naguib Military Base, Alexandria, Egypt. Jointly led by the Egyptian Armed Forces and those from the U.S. Central Command, Bright Star is the oldest multilateral military exercise in the Middle East and Africa first occurring in 1980. The biannual multinational exercise is designed to enhance interoperability among the 34 participating nations and support their ability to confront security and military challenges at regional and international levels.

U.S., partner nations complete Regional Cooperation 23 in Montana

HELENA, Mont. — Over the course of 10 days, more than 230 individuals from the United States, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as observers from Turkmenistan, came together for Exercise Regional Cooperation 23, held Aug. 8-18, 2023, in Helena, Montana. The annual, multinational exercise, sponsored by U.S. Central Command and this year hosted by the Montana National Guard, aimed to enhance stability operations and promote cooperation on counter-terrorism and joint, combined capabilities among the U.S. and Central and South Asian nations.

Virginia Guard Conducts Mountain Warfare Exchange in Tajikistan

ROMIT, Tajikistan - Five Virginia National Guard Soldiers conducted a mountain warfare exchange with soldiers from the Republic of Tajikistan July 24-29. The five-day exchange in Romit supported the Department of Defense National Guard Bureau State Partnership Program, in which Virginia and Tajikistan have been partners since 2003.

CENTCOM’s Regional Cooperation 23 underway in Montana

HELENA, Mont. — Exercise Regional Cooperation 23, an annual U.S. Central Command-sponsored exercise, is underway in Helena, Montana. The exercise, this year hosted by the Montana National Guard at the Helena Aviation Readiness Center, kicked off Aug. 8, 2023, and brings together military personnel from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as U.S. personnel from across the nation, including Soldiers and Airmen from the Arizona, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana and Virginia National Guard.

Army accepts prototypes of the most advanced version of IVAS

FORT BELVOIR, Va. — Last week, the Army accepted delivery of the first 20 prototypes of the Integrated Visual Augmentation System 1.2 variant. The milestone is the latest step in the process of getting the most advanced version of the situational awareness system in the hands of Soldiers. Microsoft delivered the 20 prototypes to Project Manager Soldier Warrior, the program office within Program Executive Office Soldier responsible for overseeing the development of IVAS.
