Nearly a month after ISIS announced the establishment of their so called caliphate, America struck back, delivering the first airstrike against ISIS on Aug. 8, 2014.

Nimitz Carrier Strike Group Begins Support of Operation Inherent Resolve

ARABIAN GULF (NNS) -- The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group (CSG) is carrying out strike sorties from the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR). The first aircraft launched from USS Nimitz (CVN 68) was an F/A-18E Super Hornet assigned to the "Argonauts" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 147. Accompanying Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11 squadrons, part of that first flight include the "Black Knights" of VFA-154, the "Blue Diamonds" of VFA-146, the "Death Rattlers" of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 323, and the "Bluetails" of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 121.

Arizona, Kazakh State Partnership renewed for 5 more years

PHOENIX – The Arizona National Guard hosted a delegation of military officer and enlisted personnel from the Kazakh Ministry of Defense during a State Partnership Program-sponsored visit Jul. 19 – 26. The visit came within weeks of the U.S. government’s formal renewal of its partnership with Kazakhstan, extending the 24-year-old legacy of cooperation for five more years.
