Iraqi Army Soldiers Graduate from Basic Training Course

CAMP TAJI, Iraq – More than 1,400 members of the 72nd Iraqi Army Brigade graduated from a six-week training course that covered basic and intermediate individual and collective military skills during a morning ceremony here Feb. 13.

Iraqi Army cadres led the course and were assisted by U.S. Soldiers from the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, who helped develop the training plan and worked daily with their Iraqi counterparts.

Camp Taji is one of five training sites in Iraq where Iraqi Security Forces learn basic, intermediate and advanced military skills. The Coalition supported training includes small unit tactics, counter IED techniques, military operations on urban terrain and live fire exercises.

The CJTF-OIR Coalition will continue supporting the Iraqi Security Forces and the Government of Iraq to degrade and defeat Daesh.
